I am a stay at home mom with three young boys. I thought parenting was going to be a breeze, until my children were old enough to consume the unhealthy American diet of everything containing red dye 40. Unknowingly, I spent two years trying to figure out the most turbulent behavior of my middle child, and the over-sensitive depressed and anxious nature of my oldest. After becoming educated by an occupational therapist, I learned that some parents find that eliminating artificial colors - namely red dye 40- has made significant difference in their child's unruly behavior. After eliminating all of these dyes, I saw a change in their behavior and found the peace and joy of parenting that I longed for.
