When your biological clock ticks, it's hard to ignore. For some women, getting pregnant is quick and simple and they go on to have healthy babies. For other women, it's not that simple. Even for women who are within the healthy age range for conceiving a healthy baby, (some say 18-35) find it may not be that easy. According to Parenting.com, women under the age of 35 should seek medical intervention if they do not become pregnant within 6 months of trying. This is of course assuming that intercourse is taking place during a woman's fertile window. A woman and her mate can go months having unprotected sex but, if it's not during ovulation, they will not conceive. However, if a couple is trying at the right time and still no mom-to-be, there may be a few things she can do before going to the doc:
- Maintaining a stable weight: According to statistics obtained from Parenting.com and "Getting Pregnant," women who are not at a healthy weight (either under or overweight) have a more difficult time conceiving and keeping a pregnancy than those women who are at a healthy weight. Make sure your BMI is within range for your age and height. That could be the only issue preventing you from having your bundle of joy!
- Make sure you are healthy: You may not have issues with weight, but you could be lacking baby friendly vitamins. Folic Acid is a crucial vitamin for getting pregnant and having healthy babies. Find Folic Acid rich foods like spinach, asparagus and beef liver. Prenatal vitamins are packed full of nutrients, so get a jump start on them now!
- Keep an ovulation calendar: Knowing exactly when you are ovulating is very important to ensuring you conceive. Track your period and ovulation period for about 3 months to get a good idea of your cycle time. You may not have the average cycle time of 28 days.

- Stay positive: A stressed body is not a healthy body. Relax and enjoy the possibilities of pregnancy and don’t worry if it doesn’t happen right away.
