Took birth control at the wrong time now my period has lasted for more than 2 weeks.

I usually get my period around the end of the month. This is my first time using birth control and I didn't know when I was supposed to start so I started mid month (2 weeks before I even got my period) Of course now I find out that I am supposed to start the pill the sunday after my period. Anyhow, I started the pill on June 15 and ended up getting my period on June 28 and I'm still bleeding to this day which is July 7. Is this normal?
