Did any of you happen to see Paris-Michael Jackson's emotional speech at the end of her father's memorial service on Tuesday? For me, that sweet little girl was able to capture in 2 tearful sentences what everyone else took hours to say about Michael Jackson. I felt so bad for her and I'm glad she was there with her other family members who hugged her right away and who seem to be taking good care of her. To me, it was an unscripted moment that was not intended. Paris just decided to do it, I thought, and Aunt Janet and the rest of the family helped her to the microphone.
But after talking with other people about Paris' appearance, and reading some comments on some online newspapers, it seems that some people are really upset that she spoke. I heard from more than one friend that they felt Paris' grief should have remained private, not for the world to see. And the fact that we have really never even seen her without a mask or veil, and have never heard her speak about anything until now also bothered several people. I even read several opinions that referred to it as child exploitation.
It always fascinates me how we can all see the same event, or hear the same thing, yet have such different views on it. So I'd love to know--what do you think of Paris Jackson's speech? Should she have been allowed to do it, especially if it was her own idea, or should she have been encouraged to not speak on national TV? Was it too personal a moment and something that such a sheltered child should not have been allowed to do?
