Last night I watched Michael Jackson's father, Joe, on TV being interviewed for his first "exclusive" interview since Michael's death and I could only stand to watch it for about 15 minutes. When he started talking about how much he "put into" Michael, and then later when he commented on how he felt Michael's kids could be talented as well, I felt sick to my stomach. The man literally seemed to have dollar signs in his eyes as he talked about the kids.
I've heard parents refer to raising their kids as if they were "investing" something into their kids -- like at some point they deserve some kind of pay back for being parents. I just don't understand that mentality at all. In Joe Jackson's case, according to past interviews of Michael, he was apparently an abusive father. I think it would be really sad if Michael's kids ended up with him and I'm really surprised that Michael didn't plan something better for them.
