Hi everyone,
I asked once and I got very helpful and informative response. I have another problem. My niece (14y/0) has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, the mass grew in the pancreatic area and this caused the bile blockage. PBTD (external) done to drained the bile. Her chemo and monoclonal treatment done last Jul. 2009, CT-scan shows completely resolved. The oncologist decided to take off the PTBD because the mass was gone but he invasive radiologist who put the PTBD refused and told us that the blockage would come back and the kid would become jaundice again in 3 days. His reason is that if he remove the catheter the biliary duct would adhere and it could cause blockage. He advised us to put an internal stent to make sure that the kid would be safe.
My questions:
Is PTBD can not be remove when it is inserted?
What could cause the adhesion of the bile duct when it is removed?
How safe is the internal stent? Is it safe to the kid?
PLEASE help me, I need to know everything about it, i want my niece to be free from the catheter, she is having problem during sleep and complaints pain on her shoulder because of it but I want her to be safe too.
Thank you, waiting for your response.
