I am from Denmark and my english is not perfect. Please bear with me.
I would like to ask a question to Dr. Philip Sarrel, M.D., as he is mentioned as an research-expert in a danish article on PMS problems (http://www.always-info.dk/science_behind_pms.html). The research in Denmark on the subject is very poor, so I don't know, who to go to in my own country.
My problem is this:
For all my life I have suffered from very heavy pains in my uterus and other reproductive organs. You would probably consider this PMS. I am 41 years old today, had my first period as 11 year-old and have had pains since. First it was premenstruel pains up to one week before my menstruation-start. Heavy pains that made me vomit from time to time and being sick. Later, about late 20-ties, I started having uncomfort and pain on and off from my eg-release point (don't know the english word for it, hope you understand) until my period startet. Some days where bad, some very bad, some ok and some days fine.
At the age of 32 I got pregnant and felt very uncomftable: same pain and discomfort from the afternoon until bedtime. I did not suffer from morning sickness or vomitting at any point as other women do. I also had water in my lower legs. 2 month pregnant I had an abortion.
Some time after that point, maybe 6-7 years ago, I started also having very strong pains at my eg-release point. The pain comes from the ovales that produces the eggs, always one side stronger pain than the other. It feels like a knife is stuck into me and for 2-3 days I am very ill with pain and have to take strong pain-medicin.
I am not aware, if all my pain problems can be PMS or if it's another problem that courses the pain. I have talked with my practise-doctor several times and have been to a hospital for en examination for endometriosis (english name ?), a scanning, but they are not able to see anything unnormal, neither a tumor or likewise. I have also been testet for free connection through my ovals-strings (english name ?), as I for some time have wished to have a baby through donor. So I have been going through the usual tests at a clinic here in denmark and all my tests are fine and normal.
Now, I am a bit afraid to get pregnant, because the last time I experienced very discomfort and pain in my womb, and if I am pregnant, I will not be able to take pain-medicin. My pregnancy could easily become so discomforting and painfull, that I have to lay sick all through the 9 month period and going out of my mind with pain.
Also I am worried (spelling?) that there is something very wrong with me, allthough the doctors here have not until now been able to find anything. I have not been to a laparaskopi (english spelling ?) yet, as the doctors said, was the only way to maybe find the problem, because of long waiting-lists and my wish to be pregnant. Also I think, that the problem will not be found in that way, as the scannings have shown nothing. Maybe it is more a hormon-problem, which they have not testet yet, because they want to do the other examination first. Maybe it's more complicating and expensive to hormon-test.
In the danish article referring to Dr. Philip Sarrel, it is mentioned that low seretonin-level may be the explaination for these PMS problems that some women have. I have earlier seen that argument and recognize a lot of the other symptoms of low seretonin. I have difficulty sleeping maybe 2-4 nights a week and restless legs. I am also a bit overweight (95 kg, 165 cm high), experience concentration-problems from time to time.
My moods are very unstable during the last 14-days period. I get very irritable and heavy-tempered. Funny, the first 16-18 days of my period I feel just great ! I have a lot of energy, good mood, active and social. But when my eg-realease sets in, I shift to the opposite.
I have searched for experts in my country to help me on research on the area, but found nothing until now. Please help me finding some answers to my problems and how to solve them.
