Now, here's a truly remarkable feat - on his feet:
Eddie Izzard triumphantly finishes 1,100 mile marathon around Britain in Trafalgar Square
I love Eddy Izzard's wacky "transvestite" comedy routine and his brilliant, acute humor. He's also a pretty good serious actor (although the "Riches" series was rather misguided). Little would one have thought him capable of such a monumental feat as literally running around the U.K., doing the equivalent of 43 marathons in 51 days and covering each of the British Isles and Wales. He just doesn't look the runner type.
Well, neither do I, for that matter. But, he only trained for 5 weeks. His daily finish time decreased from 10 hours to 5. He lost a number of toenails (the right of passage and bane of marathoners). And, raised 200,000 pounds sterling for Sport Relief, the BBC's version of Comic Relief to benefit the poorest among us in the UK and across the globe.
You rock, Eddie!
