I am one of these women that doctors probably have nightmares about. I believe that I am responsible for my body and I know it best. I also believe that doctors DO NOT know everything and there are other ways to be healthy rather than popping pills. I have challenged and frustrated few doctors in my life by questioning, challenging and downright refusing their treatments. I found my own ways and the result is that neither I, nor any of my children have ever had a family doctor. No need for one.
I thought I had everything under control until menopause happened. I did not have extreme symptoms, but weight gain, mental fog, extreme tiredness and a horrible skin happened, not to mention worsening incontinence problem. I suffered for about 3 years, because everybody told me that it is just a natural part of life, but eventually I got tired of it and sprang into action.
I tried naturopathy, meditation, yoga, bio-identical hormones and supplements, nothing worked the way I wanted.
I saw first light at the end of the tunnel when I came across (dry skin product) [Link removed by Empowher Moderator]). I was having bad problems with very dry skin, and this little glove fixed it for me within a month. It did it so well in fact, that my skin got a lot better than it was BEFORE the menopause. That is when I decided that if I can reverse my skin aging, there must be a way of getting rid of other problems as well. I will spare you details of my search, but I eventually found a (Kegel exercise product) [link removed by EmpowHer Moderator] and within 4 weeks of exercising my vaginal muscles I got rid of all my incontinence problems, prolapsed uterus (doctor told me that the only way to cure that is with removal of uterus), my libido returned and as a bonus my recurring back pain disappeared after 3 days of using this contraption and has not come back.
The only thing that remained was my brain fog, which is a real hindrance when you work as a copy writer. I did not think that I could do anything about lack of energy, because I have always been very un-energetic person otherwise known as a couch potato. Exercise has always been my enemy, and now that I had even less energy I could not see myself suddenly becoming a gym junky.
However, as the saying goes "if you want to find the easiest way of doing things, get the lazy person to do it". I did a lot of research and finally bought myself a stand on vibration machine (you can get one on e-bay).
Well ladies, it has been 3 weeks since I have been using it (20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening) and not only did I lose 2 dress sizes, but I really toned up and now I have so much energy that few times during the day I run up and down the stairs just for the fun of it. No more brain fatigue either (I hope this post makes sense so I do not look like a liar), so I get a lot more done during the day.
So, where there is a will, there is a way. Those things might not work for you, because everybody is different, but I can tell you from my own experiences that menopause is not a sentence and you can find easy ways to deal with them if you just look outside the square.
