Nause. I hate this feeling! I didn’t get much sleep last night, in fact I woke up at 4:30 a.m. I think I fell back asleep around 8 a.m. or so and shortly after, the painter showed up so sleepy time was over. The rest of the morning was a blur. Kathy and I spent a good deal of time cleaning, organizing and bustling around. I ended up being able to book an oxygen facial, courtesy of a spa down the street.
A couple of weeks ago I went to the spa for a facial and ended up having a horrible skin reaction. They offered to give me an oxygen facial to make up for the bad experience. The oxygen facial ended up being very relaxing and I fell asleep quickly. In fact, I woke myself up several times throughout the treatment because I was snoring. How embarrassing! The rest of the afternoon was spent doing more running around. I felt half exhausted and half dizzy. I wasn’t sure whether to throw up or take a nap or maybe both. By the time that we got home and were done taking care of things for the day, I didn’t have much time before my friend Tera was scheduled to come for dinner. As the night went on I started to feel a little better. By the end of the night, I still wasn’t feeling fabulous, but at least we had some good laughs and Tera and Kathy made out with some fancy new clothes.
The past few days since Kathy has been in town we have started walking. We walk around the block near my house which takes about 20 minutes or so. Last night we took a detour and snuck into a new condo complex when the gate was open. I figured we would be able to walk right out through one of the side gate doors. Oops! I was wrong. We spent the next 20 minutes walking around in circles in the small complex debating on if I would be able to make it over the wall without breaking my back. We decided against risking it. Thankfully someone finally showed up and let us through the gate.
Back to the original point of the story. My back has really been killing me lately. I’m not sure if it’s from the walking and running around, sleeping on the couch for weeks, or from new or existing mets on my vertebrae. I tried stretching tonight which seemed to help a bit, but then again I did down some dilauded shortly before I started stretching. I am just so scared that I am going to overdo it a little in New Zealand and either hurt myself, get sick, or be exhausted.
I want so badly to take advantage of all of the adventurous things the Country has to offer. We have also decided to take a side trip to Sydney. I am just going to have to work really hard on building my endurance over the next couple of weeks. I really hope that my friend Carol is able to partake in some of the activities. Since my back has been hurting, my legs have been really swollen. I’m wondering if this is from the blood clot. The last ultrasound that I had (same day that I had the petscan) found the one bloodclot in my right leg, and the newer bloodclot in my left leg had dissipated. I have been wearing my compression socks the past few days to help with the swelling, but it’s not making too much of a difference. It’s really frustrating when they get like this because my jeans get tight, shoes, and it’s just plain uncomfortable to walk around when I feel like I’m carrying an extra 10 lbs in my legs. I have infusion scheduled with the Erbitux tomorrow so I am going to talk with the doc and see what his thoughts are.
