The pomegranate! That rich fruit that I never heard of until several years ago. I love the taste (especially in Mojitos!) and knw of their health benefits but am interested in the concept of them being a tool in combating breast cancer.
It turns out that the antioxidant filled pomegranate may have properties that can prevent the growth of cancer cells.
Researchers at Ohio State University have delved more deeply into the already known benefits of the pomegranate in terms of our health and have found that it contains ellagic acid, which can prevent the growth of cancer.
Researchers also studied ten kind of properties derived from this acid and found one that really stood out : urolithin B. This compound is particularly effective.
By drinking a glass of 100% pomegranate juice everyday, we may be doing far more to prevent breast cancer that we ever thought, and experts believe that pomegranate may be incorporated in mainstream medicine as a preventative tool.
Yet another reason why natural health methods and tools need to be taken as seriously as those found solely in a lab.
Other fruits recommended for cancer prevention include black and blueberries, black grapes, strawberries and raspberries.
