After talking and planning for so long, I am finally on my way to New Zealand and Australia! My friend Carol, who I grew up with in Seattle, is meeting me there. I am sitting in the Honolulu airport right now waiting for my flight.
When I arrived here I immediately looked for someone that could help me with my carry on bag, maybe someone with a wheelchair? I spent the first hour trying to track down someone to help me. I went to two gates and both employees were totally rude and unhelpful. I found a security guard who pointed me in the direction of the lounges so I could relax while I was waiting for the flight. Unfortunately, he told me the wrong lounge! So walked all over with my damn bag and my back was starting to kill me. Long story short, I couldn’t find anyone to help me. The three info desks I saw were closed and half the people I talked to didn’t even know where the lounges were. Even the shops were closed! It was 6 p.m. and most of the stores were shut down for the night! The people that worked at the gate couldn’t help me because I had to work with someone from Air New Zealand or go all the way back to the US Airways gate which on the other side of the airport.
I was super frustrated and ready to just break down. I was finally able to get through to someone over the phone at US Airways and they called to send someone down to help me. Finally after 20 minutes of waiting I was finally sitting in a chair and on my way to the presidents club. Of course when I got there they didn’t take Greg’s chairmans club info because he had to be with me to utilize the lounge. Thankfully, I had a priority pass so I was able to use that. Now I am just waiting to board the next plane and prey things go smoothly the rest of the way.
I’m a little nervous about my passport. At the Phoenix security line, they were giving me a hard time because the front page was torn out. I guess it had my signature on it. I don’t know why it was gone or how it even got torn out of the passport. I don’t remember doing it. Anyway, hopefully they won’t give me a hard time in the airport in New Zealand. I think by then I will be exhausted and jet lagged. The last thing I will be up for is fighting with the airport employees to let me through customs.
