I was in a bad car accident three years ago and I obtained a traumatic brain injury, and several parts of my body were severely fractured; everywhere from my neck down to my pelvis. When my pelvis fractured, it ruptured both my bladder and spleen. Now, just over three years, things are going okay (all things considered…), but my menstrual cycle has been very irregular ever since. I may have my period one month, might not.
I have tried different birth control pills, but each has made absolutely no change; same abnormal/uncertain/ spontaneous cycles. Several times when I have gotten my period, it comes at the time I had expected/hoped for it to come, and it will come with a “normal” light flow for a day or 2(tops), but continues for days (up to a week/week and a half) of dark brown liquid-like discharge, which comes very, very light (I can even just wear a pantiliner for the day and it doesn’t even seem to need a change). But then after about a week or so of that, I will, AGAIN, have 1-2 days of the same junk I had gotten at the start of this cycle a week or so earlier.
THEN, following this I’ll, have 1-2 weeks of nothing; yet feeling completely down, miserable, no energy, and every ounce of self confidence I have is washed away, until it all repeats itself.
I have gone from being a very, very happy person, who everybody liked- to a very “blah” person that a lot of people I have always been/would had been, close to- are now scared of me (which I know, may have a majority to do with the TBI, but I JUST want to know how I can control at least ONE part of my life, I have lost close to everything that’s ever matter to me- friends, intelligence, so much of my personality, even my dignity- like anyone else that’s 20years old and JUST wants to be able to live a little and not be CONSTANTLY thinking about THAT!
What can I do to simply control my menstrual cycle? My new doctor mentioned the Depo-Provera (the birth control shot).
Any advice???
