The symptom of red, burning, irritated eyes began after taking a number of meds to try to help fatigue and sleep re Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Menopause. Since stopping the drugs due to a hypersensitive (adverse) reactions, the dry eye symptoms have conutinued and are getting worse. Some mornings when I wake up, my eyeball is very painful and the lid won't open. I have been using a warm damp cloth and gentle massage to open the lid. At other times, my eyes tear excessively (for no reason.) The one eye is now starting to ache during the evening. There is no discharge from either eye. I have been using an OTC eyedrop for dry eyes but it doesn't seem to be helping. I'm 51. Please help! Thank you so much.
