My 98 year old mom has severe aortic stenosis which is causing shortness of breath while lying down and recently while at rest sitting up. We have seen a surgical interventionist and he has suggested that she have balloon valvuloplasty done to relieve her shortness of breath. I would like to know if anyone could enlighten me as to what might be reasons for an elderly person like my mom to either have the procedure done or just live with this condition as is.
