Hi, I am a 45 years old. I have always had normal periods until four months ago. I completely missed my period and had rectal bleeding. I went to my gastro doctor and he said it was probably hemmoroids. He did a colonoscopy and confirmed that I had internal hemmoroids. But I was still concerned about the missed period, pregnancy tests came back negative, blood hormone tests came back negative. Infact all my blood work was normal. I talked to the nurse at my gyn dr's. And told her about my symptoms, she said that the missed period was probably peri menapause related. Meanwhile I started reading about endometriosis and everything I read scared the heck out of me. I asked my gastro dr again if it could be endo, and he assured me that the rectal bleeding was from hemmoroids, Still I could not get the missed period and the rectal bleeding out of my head. My periods are now normal again, however before this last period I noticed a little bit of rectal bleeding. I should mention that I had four bm's that day and it seemed logical that it was the hemmoroids but I got my period the next day and couldnt help thinking that it could be the endo,,..I keep reading that rectal bleeding during period is a sign of endo. I do have painful periods sometimes but I always had them. they are actually less painful then they use to be. And I dont have severe pain between periods or painful sex or pain in rectum.
I wondered if anyone could answer these questions for me. What does the pain of endo feel like?
When they talk about rectal bleeding during periods does that mean that the blood from the period is coming out of the rectum? or is blood from scars? I have been reading about bowel obstruction and that colonoscopy does not see it. I am scared. If I have endo can it be fatal if not treated? When will a doctor do laproscopic surgery, do I have to have alot of symtoms? And why would a colonoscopy not see a bowel obstruction, if blood is coming through the bowel wall then why wouldnt it see that? these internet sites are scaring me to death. I just would like to put my mind at ease. I hope it is just hemmoroids. But that damn missed period still haunts me.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
any answers would be very helpful
