I have been on birth control for about 10 months and taken it regularly. I always start the placebo's on a Sunday and my menstrual flow kicks in sometime that Tuesday. Always. This month, I started the placebo's on Sunday like normal but that night had weird, light cramping in my lower abdomen that kept me up, and lots of 'twinges' on my left side where my left ovary is.
Monday I had some cramps again, which has never happened to me before. I never get cramps until after my flow has started.
Tuesday my flow finally kicked in like normal, but my flow was much lighter than usual. And I had no cramps, which like I said above, is not normal. Wednesday, usually my heaviest flow day, was almost nothing. I filled maybe one pad throughout the whole day, and Thursday my period was done - also unusual. Normally it trails off for a few days. And I'm still feeling bloated, which is unusual.
I took a pregnancy test yesterday (Friday) and it came back negative (whew!), but I'm still concerned because I don't know why these changes happened.
The week before my period, my husband and I changed our diet to include a lot of vegetables, so I've been eating a lot of dark leafy greens, lentils, salad, and lots of cabbage.
I also exercised more last week than usual.
I haven't been affected by changes in diet or exercise before, at least not since being on the pill but I'm open to thinking this could be a factor.
I also have a state exam on Monday that is slightly terrifying me, but again stress hasn't had a big impact on my period before (at least not since the pill).
But I'm still concerned - the symptoms I had don't seem like healthy changes that would correlate with positive changes in my diet and exercise, so I'm wondering if anyone has advice? I see my OBGYN in August - should I be concerned enough to see her before then? I feel okay now, other than I still feel a little bloated.
Thank you SO much!
