Like most people, I know of using lavender in aromatherapy. Though I have to admit that it doesn't seem to have the same relaxing effect on me, I find it more stimulating than relaxing, but it is still a nice aroma.
I get a newsletter from my favorite herb shop/tea house in Phoenix, Chakra4, which is always informative on a a different herb, remedy, or just plain good nutritional advice. The newsletter the other day was about the many uses of lavender. I have used lavender tea as a hair rinse. Besides being pleasant smelling, it is good for slowing down hair loss. Here is what I just learned about lavender tonight:
"Using Lavender flowers in tea, tincture, or capsules, can provide relief from depression, stress, migraine, tension headache, nervous debility, exhaustion, and insomnia. Lavender has a tonic or balancing effect on the nervous system. For many people, this can be relaxing. For others, they just feel more centered and balanced."

I plan on adding lavender leaves to the tea tree oil steam I use to clear my sinuses! And that's just for starters.
I hope you all find some wonderful beneficial uses for this lovely flower.
