Almost 2 years ago, I experienced UTI symptoms. When I noticed blood in my urine, I made an appointment with my doctor. By the time of my appointment, I was already feeling normal again, with no symptoms. The doctor still found microscopic traces of blood in the urinalysis, though, and prescribed antibiotics. From that point on, I've taken several tests, all showing microscopic hematuria, even when I have no other UTI symptoms. I was referred to a urologist, who performed an ultrasound and cystoscopy, both which showed no problems. Each follow up appointment with the specialist results in a positive hematuria test, an antibiotic prescription and another follow up. I don't feel comfortable being constantly put on antibiotics, especially when I feel fine and the test results show no sign of infection. My most recent urologist appointment ended with another follow up... a year from now. Should I be concerned that the RBC traces are still in my urine, or is this common and fine to wait a whole year to follow up on?
Thank you for any help you can provide.
