I had a very heavy period. It would last for 7-8 days, and wouldn't leave the house for the first 5 days. It felt like a tap was being turned on. No warning, and suddenly I'd be soaked. The doctor suggested the mirena, however, having my tubes tied after my last pregnacy, due to trouble with birth control and hard pregancies, I decided to have a DNC. It drastically reduced my flow, which was great, my period now last for 6 days. After the 6th day I end up with a brown discharge for up to one week. I have a lot more of this discharge after intercourse as well. It's been 2 years and this hasn't subsided. After much discussion with my doctor, he sent me for an ultrasound yesterday. I also had an intervaginal ultersound. I had this proceedure several years ago after a miscarriage. Yesterday, I was in a lot of pain. I am still experiencing cramping today. The incision from my 3 c-sections is also very sore. Is this normal? (I'm 40 years old and have had a period since I was 11)
