Here we are in the homestretch - just one week left to go on the EmpowHER BodyMedia FITness Challenge! For good or bad, there's not much to report this week. I feel like I've settled into a nice little rhythm over the duration of this challenge. I'm back into my training routine - albeit it's limited with the shin splits - but I feel like I'm once again working towards a tri-related goal. (My first triathlon of the season is only two months away!) I've lost a couple of pounds - which is great - but it's nowhere near what I had originally hoped for when I started last month. I am much more conscientious about when I go to bed, but that hasn't necessarily translated in getting more sleep. For instance, I know I should be asleep by 9:30PM for my 5:00AM wake up calls but it doesn't always work out in my favor. At least I'm making a good faith effort to get closer to my goal of eight hours of sleep per night! I know this will be so crucial as I get further along with my tri training this season.
For the last week of the challenge, I'm going to continue to focus on my sleep habits as well as my keeping my food journal current - which didn't go so well this past week. The key to keeping a food journal is making sure you religiously jot down everything you eat. Sometimes life gets a little hectic, and the food journal goes by the wayside. It's nearly impossible to catch up on it when you're more than a day behind. I'm making a pledge here that I will stick to it this week!
This last week of the challenge is also my final week of being on the injured reserve list. I can finally start back to running next Friday! How I wish I could have been running for the past six weeks - I know my stats and my overall performance would have been greatly enhanced by being able to run 20 - 25 miles per in anticipation of the Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon. Regardless of my ability to run, this challenge has taught me to keep everything in perspective. Training ebbs and flows, and injuries happen from time-to-time. It's important to remember that despite those injuries and setbacks you can still be active and healthy.
