My 20 year daughter has been told she has a condition called subtalar coalition. I have tried researching this topic on Google and have found little to nothing on it. She has been in a non-weight bearing cast for 2 weeks and a boot 2 weeks before that.

The podiatrist says surgery may be needed to fuse the area and that would alleviate the pain she is in. I can find nothing on how successful this surgery is or whether there are other options. I'm hoping someone can tell me something about her condition so we know whether to proceed with surgery or not. If she has this surgery, will her range of motion be better or worse than what she has now. The podiatrist won't say what the success rate is. Is this something she just needs to live with or is the surgery worth it.
