I was tested and diagnosed with overactive aldosterone. I was previously treated for high blood pressure for the last 15 years being on diuretics, and high blood pressure meds. About 3 years ago my thyroid had abnormal results and was seen by a Endocrinologist and she just watched me closely. The Dr. is now giving me spironolactone to stop my adrenal gland from overproducing. I have have stopped the diuretic and high blood pressure meds. If I go without the spironolactone, my potassium starts dropping to life threatening levels and bloood pressure causes me to be hospitalized. I am about 10 pounds overweight and eat fairlly healthy. No sodas, low salt, almost no breads or processed foods, very little sugars. I just found out that this medicine can cause scarring/hardening of the heart and shrinkage of the kidneys. Wondering if there are other possibilities to cure this or treat it. I would prefer a holistic approach.
