Every one experiences some type of hair loss, although no one wants to experience it at all. You brush your hair in the morning and take a look at your brush and see extra hair in the brush that shouldn’t be there. Extra hair loss is called Alopecia. Alopecia is more normal in women than men because of hormone problems; however, there is a solution to hair loss — green tea.
Green tea has six different compounds in it that can help with stopping the free radicals found in the body that damage different cells. Green tea can help reverse hair loss because it contains antioxidants. It also has stimulating effects that are classified as alkaloids. These alkaloids contain caffeine, theophylline and theobromine.
Thinning Hair Basics
Both men and women tend to lose extra hair as they age. Since a full head of hair is a sign of being young, no one wants to lose their hair. Other things that can cause hair loss in men and women are genes, some medications and some levels of the hormone testosterone. Men who experience hair loss from genes will see a receding hair line as well as some baldness at the top of the head. Women who experience hair loss will keep their hair at the hair line but experience some balding at the front, side or top of the head.
Treating Thinning Hair With Green Tea
You can either drink several glasses of green tea every day or take a supplement. The supplement is a hair-loss treatment with green tea in it. Although there will not be immediate results with green tea, after several months of either drinking it or taking the supplements, you will start to see great results. You have to use it every day, however, in order to see the results from it. Another way to use green tea for hair loss is to rinse your hair with it a couple times a week. Since green tea is an all-natural substance, it will not harm your head to use it this way. Green tea is also available to take as a stand-alone extract if you don’t like to drink tea.
Other Green Tea Uses
Using green tea every day has the potential to do more than just prevent or help control hair loss. Green tea also has the potential to fight certain cancers as well as control blood glucose levels for those suffering from diabetes. Other things green tea can prevent or control is tooth decay, weight gain, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, high cholesterol and artery hardening; however, there is talk of more research to determine how green tea fights and controls these diseases as well as other diseases it might be able to help.
