What is lymphedema?
Lymphedema is a side effect of breast cancer treatment that causes permanent swelling in the arms. It is a build-up of lymphatic fluid, which causes the swelling in the arms, hand, fingers, chest or back.
Some breast cancer survivors can get lymphedema following surgery or radiation to auxiliary lymph nodes (in the underarm).
The treatment options for lymphedema include the use of a compression sleeve or bandage, which applies pressure around the arm and helps push lymph fluid out of the arm.
Much of the time, these bandages and coverings can be embarrassing and unattractive, most options have been frustrating, hot and unattractive.
When Rachel Troxell developed lymphedema, she took action to help others with the same condition.
The result, LympheDIVAs, an elegant, breathable, stylish and medically correct compression garnet that helps bring comfort and confidence to women with lymphedema.
Unfortunately, Rachel is no longer here to celebrate her success, she lost her battle to breast cancer in 2008. But her passion and inspiration live on, her family continues to run LympheDIVAS. But her efforts have donated over $10,000 to the Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer.
