I am just reaching out to see if there is anyone out there with a similar situation and to see how they coped. I am not the one witht he problem. My sister of 51 yrs of age experienced a first time psychosis in jan 2014. She was plaed on 2 mg risperidal (antipsychotic) and 20 mg cypralex (antidepressant). The psychosis was remedied within 48 hours and the cypralex supposedly helped to some extent. She was diagnosed with psychosis NOS (not otherwise specified). Eveto n though she is taking an antidepressant she is still feeling very depressed as she is finding it very very hard to accept that this happened to her.....she has two young sons and is afraid that maybe she has something that they might get. she cannot see any hope and has suicidal thoughts because she says that she is hurting wakes up everyday feeling doom. It doesn't matter how much I talk to her and tell her that it is treatable and that people manage and recover all the time she is inconsolable. I am wondering if anyone has dealt with this and I am also wondering whether her antidepressant is not working to lift her out of the dumps......orrr maybe, it has but it is her perception of the situation that is making her feel that way.......she worrys and ruminates 24/7. I am exasperated and do not know what to do. she is seeing a psychiatrist and therapist but obviously it is not helping. Does anyone have any idea at all about this and what I an do to help her. She is actually doing well in the sense that the psychosis is gone with the 2mg Risperdal. it is the worrying, the heaviness in her heart and not being able to rise above that.
I would love to hear from anyone who has gone though anything like this to hear how you coped. Did you still have depression even though you were taking an antidepressant?
Many thanks
