I just had a unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and a tubal ligation on the remaining fallopian tube. The surgery was done by laparoscopy. The reasoning for the removal of my left ovary was a 10cm dermoid cyst. I already had a period this month, but 3 days after surgery I started bleeding again. My doctor told me it was probably my period. I have now been bleeding heavily for 5 days and it doesn't seem to be lightening up. I have always had regular periods that have one heavy flow day and taper off over 4-5 days. Is this from the hormone changes? what else can I expect from the hormones changing and now having one ovary?
