My mother discovered a painful lump in her breast. She went in and had an ultrasound done. They determined that the lump is a small nodule and she has two swollen lymph nodes. She is so very upset about these findings. She automatically assumes she has been given a death sentence. Other than cancer, is there anything else that could be causing this? She had thyroid cancer about two years ago, so she is really worried now. I should also mention she had a mammogram done about 8 months ago and all was well. She has fibrosystic breasts so mammograms have always made her nervous. Any advice, comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. She is going to see a specialist on Wednesday, but until then I guess we pray and wait...
