Can you ( or anybody) tell me Why a Dr. would perscribe Anti-Epileptic Meds. if asymptomatic? Doesn't asymptomatic mean Showing NO symptoms?

I was in the hospital from 2/15-2/17, I had an syncope episode at home ( I Fainted). Now the Dr. is saying that I have Complex Partial Seizure.( I have been in the Medical Profession for over 30 yrs. , and have Never heard of this before. Also, wouldn't I remember a 16-channel EEG being done, with 10-20 electrode placement with photic stimulation, being done on me?
