Ringworm or Pityriasis Rosea - My story.
25 Aug 2015 - A Ringworm type mark first appeared on my face, on the right hand side approximately 1.5cm from my mouth. A couple of days later I went to the doctor and she confirmed Ringworm. She prescribed Clarithromycin 500mg antibiotic tablets and Daktarin cream (miconazole nitrate 20mg) and told me to come back after 2 weeks. Neither the antibiotics or cream helped. My condition got worse, a lot worse. When I went back she diagnosed Pityriasis Rosea. I asked her to take a scraping of the skin (infected area) and send it for tests as I want to be 100% sure of what it is I really have. I've read online that you can get some relief from sunshine (its autumn England, UK - raining all the time) or a sunbed (tanning bed). It has been 3 weeks now since the first 'herald' patch arrived - the one on my face. Today at the tanning salon I asked the assistant to take 'before' photographs. I would publish a photo here but haven't been able to work out how to upload a photo, yet. If this site allows I will blog my progress over the coming weeks.
