I've just had my first cervical biopsy and can't believe that no pain medication or anesthetic was provided. In a way I'm glad I waited to google this until after it had happened rather than before otherwise I may never have proceeded. Considering the importance of this type of biopsy, to ensure prevention of cancer you would think that the procedure would allow for some type of anesthetic to ensure people return! I have a pretty high pain threshold but that was definitely not something I want to relive anytime soon. I was shaking from head to toe, crying and it is definitely not just a 'pinch'. I felt pretty stupid and was given no proper warning about what I was going to experience. The doctors parting words were that if I did have to have cells removed they would do it under General anesthetic as they didn't think I could cope with removal under a local. Well how very kind of you! Am I meant to feel grateful now!!
