I've been on The Pill for over a year now. I've never missed a pill. I take it at 8:30pm sharp. The latest I've taken my Pill was two hours late when I was interstate and got confused with the time zones, but that was about eight months ago now. When I first started taking The Pill, I had a little bit of nausea, but after a few weeks it went away and I've had no more side effects since. Before I went on the pill, my periods were quite heavy. There were a fair few clots, I'd have to change my pad every few hours, and more often than not one pad wouldn't be enough for the night. My cramps pre-Pill were absolutely terrible, I was in agony, my legs would cramp up as well and Ibuprofen would only just take the edge off.
On the Pill, to much relief, my periods have been very light, I've had no cramps, no clots, and I've had very little acne. My Pill-Periods would always start when there were two active pills left in the packet, the first few days were just trickles of old, brown blood, then a few days of red/pink blood and that's it. I only changed my pad once or twice a day because there was just so little blood. If hygiene wasn't an issue, I could probably use one pad for like five days, haha! But that's gross, so of course I would never do that.
Anyway, I started my period a few days ago and it's been unusually heavy. Not to the degree of my Pre-Pill-Periods, but probably about half that. To me, it's very heavy for a Pill-Period. I have to change my pad every four hours or so, there are a few clots, there are cramps (but not as bad), and I have been breaking out like crazy. (I also noticed a pea-sized fully white pimple "down there"; thanks a lot, universe!) I am sexually active, but we also use condoms, so it's extremely unlikely that I'm pregnant, even more so with this amount of bleeding, so it's not really a concern of mine.
I've not been overly stressed, which is one of the reasons this heavy period was kind-of alarming. On my last period, it was my exam week so I was constantly stressed but that period was normal and light. After that, I was on my three week break from university, and I only started university again yesterday, so I've been pretty relaxed. My diet hasn't really changed. I'm trying to lose a bit of weight at the moment, but I'm just going for walks, doing light jogging, and reducing portion sizes to start with. I'm not doing anything intense like six hours of cardio, or anything crazy like suddenly cutting out a food group or taking diet pills.
Other than that, I can't think of any reason why this monster would suddenly arrive. Should I be worried? Should I chalk it up to just an irregular period? Should I see a doctor? I've only been sexually active for roughly a year, should I get a pap smear, or a check up? So many questions! Sorry! Thanks a million for your help though!
