Is it feasible for mothers/women whom had trouble breastfeeding to their first child/ren to go on successfully breastfeed subsequent child/ren

I mean with all of breastfeeding problems with either the mom and/or child and if they wish to as well.

Again, I'm just wondering about this because I know someone whom is in the similar situation, but choose to go with the bottle/formula feeding instead of trying again and etc.
