My best friend (female) and I went to an event today, and I noticed she had a few bumps by her mouth, looking almost like acne but red and irritated. She told me that basically she got oral herpes from her mother at a young age, probably from sharing a water bottle or cutlery. She gets an outbreak every now and then.
We then had lunch and I had pasta and she asked for some. Without thinking until the last minute I gave her my fork and she ate a piece of pasta. Afterwards I was very careful not to let the fork touch my lips, tongue and teeth when I was eating. She then said afterwards that she made sure that she didn't touch the fork, she just took off the pasta piece and that she wouldn't have spread it to me.
I'm just worried now that I could have picked it up from her? Is there a possibility?? Should I get myself tested?
