I am a 27 year old female. I have been on birth control pills for about 5 years, and always had normal periods before and after starting the pill, and my family has no history of infertility or premature ovarian failure. I recently had a transvaginal ultrasound to investigate abdominal pain, and the report stated that I had very small ovaries: left ovary 1cc, right ovary 0.7cc. I am not currently trying to get pregnant, and I am still on the pill, and I can't seem to find any information online about small ovaries in people who are not currently struggling with infertility. I cannot get an appointment with my OBGYN for another 2 weeks, and I am very worried that this means that my ovaries are failing at such a young age.
Does anyone know what could be causing such small ovaries in a healthy 27 year old? I read a few things online about birth controls making your ovaries shrink (temporarily), but I couldn't find any reliable sources, and my ovaries seem EXTREMELY small! Any information would be great!
