I experienced Polymialga Rheumatica 14 years ago and was treated with Prednisone for 1 year and then spent another year decreasing the amount to get weaned off the drug. Prednisone did give me relief but I experienced all the side effects associated with this drug. What other medications are available to take without experiencing the side effects from taking Prednisone? Does the condition worsen even if you start treating with medication when you first start feeling the desease? I do cardio excerise 5 days a week and also weights. Will this desease disappear after treating with medication as it did before? I'm desperate for pain relief but terrified of taking Prednisone because of so many terrible side effects.
