My boyfriend gave me HPV, which I had found out last may(2017) with my annual pap smear. Doctors weren't too concerned as with my age, 23, I'm likely to pass it within the year. They schedule my next pap smear for may 2018. I did it and I am still positive for HPV, doctors reassured me that HPV can take up to two years to pass so to just wait until next year to take another pap smear.
My concern is, because I have unprotected sex with my boyfriend still(I'm allergic to most lubricants and condoms), are we just playing HPV tennis and just infecting each other over and over? I posed this question to my doctor who had told me No, that we were safe since it was the same strain. But seeing how I still have it a year later I am getting somewhat concerned. I got the last of my HPV vaccinations last week I just don't know what to think.
Are we just infecting ourselves over and over?
