Mary’s Place by the Sea (www.marysplacebythesea.org) is a respite home for women who are receiving treatment for cancer where they have an opportunity to benefit from an array of holistic, non-clinical cancer care services, such as oncology massage, Reiki therapy, nutrition education, counseling and much more, all at no cost to the patient. The 10-bedroom home in Ocean Grove, NJ, just a block from the beach, welcomes women from around the country to visit for just a few hours or up to two nights, to focus on their healing: mind, body and soul. All services are provided at no cost to guests, thanks to the generosity of corporations, individual supporters and third-party fundraising events.
Grammy-Award Winners Sarah McLachlan and Patty Griffin are teaming up for an intimate evening of music to a sold-out crowd of supporters on July 28 to shine a spotlight on Mary's Place by the Sea.
Sarah lost her mom, dad and brother to cancer and understands all too well the toll the disease can have on a person and their loved ones. Patty has also seen the profound effects of cancer in lives of friends and family members. Together they are generously sharing their time, talent and personal experience to help raise awareness and funds to support Mary’s Place and its mission to help cancer patients cope with their life-altering diagnosis.
For nearly 10 years, Mary’s Place by the Sea has welcomed more than 8,000 women through their doors. It was built and continues to operate through the love and dedication of volunteers, donors, and their guest community which has grown to be nationwide.
