Is Your Digestion Causing Your Migraines?

These debilitating headaches have frustrated women and baffled doctors for years. No one really understands the underlying causes. We do know that food allergies are common triggers. When looking at food allergies, one must consider digestion and elimination. In today’s society we fall victim to fast food. It seems as though everything on the planet that is bad for you is in fast food. This affects the way we digest and eliminate our food.

Herbs and spices do more than just make your food taste better. They play an important part of our digestive system, pancreas, gallbladder and liver. Look at the spices used by different nationalities. Italians cook with rosemary, thyme oregano, and basil. Chinese cook with ginger and lemongrass. Indians cook with curry, Hispanics with cumin and chilies. All of these help digest our food.

When we are unable to digest food, our elimination becomes compromised. You may have bouts of constipation or diarrhea. Later you may have challenges with diverticulitis, or Crohn's disease.

When toxins are unable to be eliminated, our bodies speak to us by way of migraines.

The Important Role of Water
Not all migraines are caused by food. Dehydration is very common. We do not drink as much as we should. Studies have shown 70 percent of dementia is caused by lack of water! What a simple fix! Coconut water can be helpful because it provides natural electrolytes. Don’t be fooled by flavored waters, energy drinks and electrolyte replacements as they are filled with synthetic chemicals, high fructose corn syrup and sugar. You might as well save your money and grab soda! Don’t do that, but you get the idea. You are wasting your money. Drink water or when you are active, you can’t beat coconut water.

Hormones and Migraines
Hormones can also be another challenge to us and cause migraines. Look again to your diet. If you eat unclean meat that contains steroids and hormones, be aware that they are transferred into your system. The over use of hormones, which are also found in dairy products, is creating havoc on our bodies. You may also have a hormonal imbalance that triggers migraines. .
