If you’re trying to cut back on unnecessary expenditures, going out on date nights with your significant other may be the first to go. Who wants to pay for overpriced restaurant food and movies when you can spend time together just as easily at home?

However, staying at home every night can sometimes have a negative effect on your relationship. You may find that refocusing your time and scheduling specific activities together can help to fight cabin fever and allow for more romantic time. Here are some ideas to get you started.

1) Play a game. There are plenty of whimsical games for two that can bring you back to your childhood, such as chess, Battleship and some card games. Turn off the TV and put on some relaxing music. Consider setting up a card table in front of the fireplace for added effect.

2) Do a puzzle. Carve out an hour in your schedules to start a puzzle. If you're bored after that hour, you can always switch to more *ahem* entertaining activities.

3) Start a devotional series. Many couples of faith choose to utilize daily or weekly devotionals to keep the lines of communication flowing. Devotions usually take about 30 minutes tops, but you may find yourself chatting longer if it's a really a good session.

4) Have a tasting party. Choose one type of food -- cheese, wine, beer, chocolate -– anything that offers foreign or unique choices. Pick up some different varieties at the grocery store and then sit down to compare flavors.

5) Schedule a massage night. Pick up some massage oil at your nearest drug store and head to the bedroom. Give your partner a massage for 15 minutes and then switch. You’d be surprised at how quickly the mood can shift!

6) Check out a couples’ cookbook. Some cookbooks have recipes designed to be made by more than one cook. Each person has their own list of tasks and when you’re done you have a fantastic meal for two.

Often, the key to rekindling your sex life is to simply make it a priority. Shut off your computer and phone and agree to give all of your attention to your partner. These quick and easy activities are great for fostering intimacy and getting the spark back in your relationship.
