In September, the American Psychological Association reported that talk of the current election has negatively affected one in four employees in the area of work productivity, for instance. About a week ago, the APA said that 52 percent of American adults reported that the election is a very significant or somewhat significant source of stress.

We are only about two weeks away from Election Day and the final debate finished last night. Still, looming thoughts of what might happen Nov. 8 can be stressful.

It’s not like we can escape it anyway, with social media and 24-hour news cycles. The election is ever present, even if you’re not searching for it. Lucky for us, the APA came up with some coping tips.

Don’t forget: your vote makes a difference. Millennials make up about 31 percent of the overall electorate, which challenges the baby boomer generation.3 However, only 19.9 percent of those from 18 to 29 years old voted in the 2014 election.4 

We have the capacity to make a difference, we just have to make an effort. Don’t forget to cast your ballot on or absentee ballot by Nov. 8 and make a difference.
