I am soon to be sixty (!?!?) and, at present, am in fairly good health. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 45 and had a radical mastectomy. Four oncologists were consulted and two recommended chemo and two didn't think it was necessary. I chose to forgo chemo and, so far, it has been the right choice. I have been cancer free for 14 years. I did take Tamoxifen for five years and began having severe hot flashes and have continued to have them. I also have acid reflux and low thyroid and am taking meds for those conditions along with anti depressants for the hot flashes, which helps a little.
