My name is Erica and I live in Buffalo, New York. I'm the oldest of 3 and the first in my family to make it to college. I've been in a 3 year relationship with my high school sweet heart Nathan, who is an AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation) survivor. He was only 16 when it happened to him and his neurosurgeon, whom is the best in Buffalo, declared it to be the largest mass of blood he has ever seen. He's 19 now and it's almost as if nothing happened to him.
I've never had a health problem until I was 13 or 14 in the 7th grade. I spent weeks hospitalized due to severe abdominal pain and I couldn't eat or drink anything without throwing up within minutes of swallowing it. Almost a month later I was diagnosed with 10 ovarian cysts, 5 in both ovaries. I was put in birth control and I stopped taking it when I was 18 years old. I still have them but they are not as severe as they used to be. I'm also at high risk for breast cancer since it runs in both sides of my family. I've been very careless about that however. It took the life of my grandmother when I was just 5. I'm not saying I'm invincible but I guess I'm just not as worried as I should be about it.
