My mental/emotional health was the first to go. Finding out that I suffer from bipolar disorder, PTSD, AND anxiety was hard enough. Accepting that I've had it since my childhood was almost impossible! Being raised in a family from Alabama, we were taught that we were stronger than that. We don't do hospitals, medication, and especially mental health doctors! Trying to hide it, I held everything in. Around 40 is when the chronic pain started. My lower back first. But I was told that I have cyatica in '98 when my second son was born. Then the pain shifted and went down my leg, into the left leg, both knees and feet. Carpal tunnel surgery was done on my right hand and a repaired meniscus in the right knee. Physical therapy at least a dozen times in the last 5 years. I refuse to take narcotics for any reason. So I had to learn other ways to deal with my pain. Physical pain can cause ur emotions to run wild. So, for over 5 yrs now, I've had to juggle my mental health and my physical health. And I STILL have no answers as to WHAT is causing me so much pain, just what it's not.
