Fruta Planta weight loss products are advertised as a 100 percent Chinese herbal medicine but in fact, they contain a drug called sibutramine, which was withdrawn in December, 2010 for safety reasons. The United States Food and Drug Administration received numerous adverse event reports after consumers had taken the weight loss product, including several cardiac events and one death.

Why is Fruta Planta Harmful?
It isn’t the herbs, but the addition of the drug sibutramine that make the product harmful. This is because sibutramine can increase blood pressure and pulse rates in some patients and in those who suffer with pre-existing conditions such as coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrythmias or stroke, it poses a serious risk to their health and life.
Those on medications should also be wary as sibutramine can interact negatively with certain drugs.
Advice for Consumers
Stop taking the product immediately. If you think you are experiencing an adverse reaction, consult your doctor straight away. When disposing of your product, make sure it is in a sealed container that children cannot open and wildlife cannot gain access to.
