Quick and easy weight loss…think again! When it comes to weight loss, there is no such thing as quick, safe and easy--otherwise all of us would never have to diet or go to the gym. The HCGdiet is one of the fad diets like the Atkins or the tapeworm diet.

The following is some basic information about the HCG diet and its potential problems:

The basics of the diet : People on this diet typically do a daily injection of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG), a pregnancy hormone, combined with a fat-free, 500 calorie per day diet. It is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for weight loss. There is no reliable evidence of weight loss, fat redistribution, decreased appetite, or improved mood. Possible side effects include ovarian hyperstimulation, swelling, ovarian cyst rupture, multiple births, headache, irritability, depression, fatigue, restlessness, clots in the arteries, and allergic reactions. Individuals with heart disease, kidney disease, seizure disorders, migraines and asthma should be warned about taking this, as it may worsen their condition.

The problems: Proponents of this diet say that this pregnancy hormone and fertility drug redistributes fat, decreases hunger and improves mood in women. This has not been proven. The probable weight loss is due to the low-fat, low calorie diet. There are concerns about possible loss of protein from vital organs and nutritional deficiencies. The starvation which occurs can decrease minerals and cause an electrolyte imbalance. These electrolytes are needed for proper heart function. Heart disease may worsen or a heart attack may occur.

Think about it: On this diet, you will pay money to suffer on the 500 calories a day for about a month, you will probably be moody, you may damage your body, you may gain the weight back and you definitely will make someone else rich.

So did a medical examiner determine that your roommate actually died from the hcg protocol?

No real evidence of weight loss or appetite restriction??? Where are you getting your information? Thousands upon thousands have lost weight and reset their metabolism. My doc put me on the diet to cleanse my body due to a major health scare. While on the 23 day protocol, I lost 25 pounds and my health scare disappeared. I didn't even need to lose weight. The most amazing thing is I wasn't hungry at all after day 3 and after I was completely finished, I felt like a 32 year old teenager.Even better, my body burned ANY type of food I put into it. I'm now 36 and I still feel the same.

You know what I think? You're being paid to write this nonsense and insulting all the people that actually do something legitimate to change their lives for the better.

Its obvious you did no research on this whatsoever. HCG is a hamone that breaks down the unwanted fat and turns it into calories. This is why you go on the 500 calorie diet because your body is already getting the calories and nutrients your body needs. The HCG resets the metabolism and resets the hypothalamus. It reshapes your body by moving the needed fat around as you lose the unwanted fat. it lowers the blood sugar level to normal so it cures type two diabetes. It helps with gout, It lowers the blood pressure to normal levels. I can go on because I have done this diet and I have researched for over two years. It is completely safe and everything you have mentioned in this article is either not proven or completely un-true.

This is just plain silly. Plenty of research showing that HCG does not break down fat. Could you imagine how skinny pregnant women would be if it did? The research shows that HCG does nothing. When you starve yourself, you lose weight. Starving yourself is known to be a dangerous way to reverse diabetes.

First of all, there have been so studies showing hCG breaks down fat. If that were the case, there'd be a lot of skinny pregnant women. From everything I am reading, there is no hCG in the drops. Even if there were hCG in the drops, the molecules would be too large to absorb under the tongue. That's the reason diabetics need shots and don't take it sublingually. Let's break it down. No drops under the tongue, pregnant women aren't known for being skinny and hCG is too large to be absorbed under the tongue. Sounds like the only thing untrue is your comment.

Pregnant women don't eat 500 calories per day so your opinion on that topic is rubish. Hcg should be administered via injection and is safe if supervised by a licenced physician. In addition, when taking hcg daily and on 500 calories, your body believes it is pregnant and is starving. The hcg hormone signals the hypothalamus gland in the brain to release nnutrients from excess fat in the body. Up to 2000 calories is reabsorbed back into the bloodstream to feed the baby that your body believes it is carrying. This is how people are comfortably able to sustain such low caloric intake. Furthermore, studies have proven hcg to be a safe amd effective weightloss therapy. Shame on you for obtaining bogus information on this amazing weight loss therapy from unreliable imternet sites . You should be fired !

Read the HCG Diet 800 Calorie Protocol Second Edition by Sonia E Russell. The studies were performed by the Bariatric Association.

I did the homeopathic Omnitrition drops and ended up with a heart arrhythmia. I had seen posts on their Facebook page from others with this problem but they were always told it was not because of this diet. Recovery has been slow but I am getting there. Side effects can come on suddenly, as I learned and there is no doubt it was from this diet. Just not worth it.

Took the omni diet for two weeks, and spent the 3rd in the hospital with heaviness on my chest and shortness of breath. I was so dehydrated because of the omni nightlite products that my veins were collapsed and they couldnt find a good vein to draw blood from, I actually passed out and my heart stopped for 45 seconds and a nurse had to do chest compressions on me to bring me back to life. I am now suffering from panic attacks headaches and constent leg cramps. I beg anyone who is thinking about trying this diet to please reconsider! This stuff is nothing but poison, and the worst part is that I went on the omni website and told them what had happened to me and they deleted it but not before telling I was crazy and that omni was not responsible for it, mind you I am 26 years old and have no pre existing conditions.a
