This stress affects your metabolism and reduces the capacity of your muscles cells to burn fat. Under these circumstances, you will likely end up gaining weight. Losing one to two pounds per week, eating enough calories to maintain a higher metabolic rate and doing three hours of exercise per week are realistic and manageable goals.
