The mainstream medical system may be reconsidering some things and it is about time. This is an opinion that Dr. Jeffrey Dach and Dr. Deborah Grady seem to share. After reading Dr. Grady's editorial in the Annals of Internal Medicine, Dr. Dach had some thoughts of his own on the subject.

Dr. Grady's editorial suggested that less health care is better than more health care, a view which Dr. Dach says is a reversal of the traditional view. The thing that amazes Dr. Dach is that this radical statement supporting less health care has been allowed to appear in a journal of the mainstream medical system.

Are mainstream doctors starting to change their minds?

"Dr. Grady reminds us that the term 'rationing' is frequently misused and abused in health care debates. In politics, those who want more health care oppose those who propose less health care. Less health care is called 'rationing', a term originating in the wartime practice of rationing food, fuel and other scarce goods, and services, and may not apply to over use of health services which causes harm rather than benefit."
