Plastic Fragments in Pizza Prompts Recall

The food company Kashi is recalling 11,000 frozen pizzas because of possible plastic fragments in the pizza crust, which could potentially cause health problems or choking if swallowed by consumers.

The affected pizzas are:

Kashi Mediterranean Thin Crust Pizza
Kashi Roasted Vegetable Thin Crust Pizza
Kashi Mushroom Trio and Spinach Thin Crust Pizza

The Mediterranean pizza is in a 12.7 ounce box with a UPC Code of 18627329053 and a Best If Used Before date of either May 10 12, May 18 12, or May 19 12.

The roasted vegetable pizza is in a 12.2 ounce box with a UPC Code of 18627373421 and a Best If Used Before date of either May 09 12 or May 14 12.
The mushroom trio pizza is in an 11.9 ounce box with a UPC Code of 18627373445 and a Best If Used Before date of May 17 12.

Customers can obtain a replacement pizza from Kashi by contacting the Customer Response Center at 877-864-3521. Staff are also happy to answer any questions about the recall.

David DeSouza, General Manager of Kashi, said “People who buy Kashi trust the quality and safety of our foods. We apologize for this situation and are working closely with our suppliers and retail customers to resolve it quickly."
