I Beat Grief with Walking

From the blog: “When my husband died at age 55 of a series of strokes, I was a mess. I was depressed (who wouldn't be after the love of their life dies?), 35 pounds overweight, bordering on diabetes, had high blood pressure and PTSD (his strokes happened in our bed...it's hard to forget that!). My family doctor was a lovely woman who got very serious with me very fast. She didn't want me to be the next statistic (sadly, she said, many widows die within two -three years of their husbands). That conversation scared me into researching how to get healthy again (and loose that 10 pounds!).”

Breastfeeding Might Not Be For You, And You Shouldn’t Feel Guilty

From the blog: “For most moms, breastfeeding is a badge of honor. It’s as if you’re showing the world that you’re doing what’s best for your child by giving her or him the essential nutrients and enzymes that babies need for rapid growth and development.

That doesn’t mean that breastfeeding is for everyone, though. Some mothers work or have an irregular schedule that prevents them from being available for their child on an ongoing basis. Others are unable to breastfeed due to medical factors.”

The Practical Keys to Finally Losing Weight

From the blog: “Nearly every woman wants to lose weight. While some people look at this and shake their heads, claiming people need to be more satisfied with who they are, there’s really nothing wrong with wanting to shed a few extra pounds. It simply shows you care about how you look and feel. The problem is that very few people are able to consistently lose and keep off weight because they don’t understand the basic principles."

Today’s Oral Health Care Guidelines

From the blog: :"Years ago, caring for your oral health wasn’t much of a priority. People recognized that unclean teeth would age and decay over time, but there was no connection between an unhealthy mouth and other diseases. Now we know that lack of dental care can lead to gingivitis, diabetes, heart and lung disease, stroke, premature births, cancer, and so much more. Caring for our teeth has greater benefits than a bright smile. It affects every other aspect of health.”
